About the role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a patient, experienced tutor to provide one‑to‑one support for a 15‑year‑old student with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the New Forest. The role involves delivering personalised GCSE instruction in Geography, Maths and English while fostering a calm, trusting relationship.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 GCSE lessons in Geography, Maths and English, adapting content to the student’s pace.
- Create predictable, low‑pressure learning environments that reduce anxiety.
- Support the student during educational outings, field trips and other engagement activities.
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet emotional and sensory needs.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with students who have ASD and anxiety‑related needs.
- Ability to teach GCSE‑level Maths, English and/or Geography.
- Understanding of sensory processing differences and emotional regulation techniques.
- Patient, empathetic and flexible approach.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
