Gear Cutter – Night Shift

About the role

Moog is seeking an experienced Gear Cutter to join its Wolverhampton manufacturing site on the night shift. The role involves operating specialised gear‑cutting equipment to produce high‑precision internal and external gears for aerospace applications.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, run and monitor conventional and CNC gear shapers and hobbers, adjusting stroke length, speed and feed parameters.
• Install gear shaper cutters, align workpieces on arbors or chucks, and perform first‑off inspections.
• Complete quality documentation and ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Inspect finished gears using micrometers, vernier calipers and Kling gear‑testing equipment.
• Maintain equipment and contribute to continuous improvement of machining processes.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years experience operating gear‑cutting machines (e.g., LFS, Lorenz).
• Previous experience in an aerospace or precision‑engineering environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to read complex engineering drawings.
• Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance or ability to obtain it.
