General Airside Operative – Edinburgh Airport

About the role

We are seeking a General Airside Operative to join one of Scotland’s largest aviation service providers at Edinburgh Airport. The position is temporary (3 months with potential to become permanent) and involves handling baggage, cleaning aircraft interiors and supporting ramp operations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort and load baggage onto conveyor belts and handling equipment for transport to aircraft or storage.
• Operate baggage handling systems, scan and track luggage to ensure it reaches the correct flight.
• Maintain compliance with airline and airport security procedures while processing baggage.
• Complete AAA checks for all baggage carts leaving the baggage hall.
• Perform interior cleaning of aircraft using approved cleaning materials and equipment, including rubbish removal, carpet vacuuming and surface cleaning.
• Replenish seat pockets with airline materials and arrange seat belts, headrests, pillows and blankets as required.
• Meet arriving flights, supervise passengers on the ramp and manage crossings at the head of stands.
• Load, off‑load, transport, deliver, sort and handle baggage and cargo.

Required profile

• Valid passport and full right to work in the UK.
• Available for full‑time hours year‑round (usually 4 am‑12 pm or 11 am‑8 pm).
• Resident in the UK for the past five years.
• Immediately available and aged 18 or over.
• Driver’s licence (preferable).

Required skills

• Baggage handling system operation.
• Use of aircraft cleaning equipment and approved cleaning materials.

What we offer

• £12.72 per hour, paid weekly.
• Fixed‑term contract for 3 months with the possibility of permanent employment.
• Shift patterns covering early morning or late morning to evening hours.
• Work location at Edinburgh Airport, start date ASAP.
