General Cover Teacher – Colchester

About the role
This permanent/contract position is for a qualified teacher to provide general cover across KS3 and KS4 in a secondary school in Colchester. Starting in January, the role offers variety, flexibility and the chance to maintain learning continuity while the regular staff are absent.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver pre‑set curriculum work and maintain learning progression across a range of subjects.
- Manage classroom behaviour and uphold school policies.
- Adapt quickly to different year groups and build rapport with students.
- Follow the school’s procedures and support the leadership team as needed.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Experience covering multiple secondary subjects.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
- Professional, calm and confident approach.
