General Foreman / Site Supervisor – Construction

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Foreman to lead on‑site activities, ensuring delivery, workmanship and safety standards are met. Reporting to the Contracts Manager and working closely with the Quantity Surveyor, you will coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to fulfil contract requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor key‑stage programmes and maintain site security, including hutting, hoardings and signboards.
• Take possession of the site, plan and coordinate trade activities, and manage temporary service connections.
• Interpret drawings and specifications, issue directions to site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure method statements and risk assessments are completed for high‑risk activities.
• Request outstanding information, confirm verbal instructions and secure necessary approvals (e.g., hoarding licence).
• Review buildability and propose construction methods that offer commercial or programme advantages.
• Implement environmental controls in line with the HSE plan and attend site, subcontractor and internal meetings, circulating notes and actions.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years’ experience in construction management with a national or regional contractor.
• Strong background in civil works and reinforced concrete (FRC).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to adapt style to different audiences.
• Strong analytical, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• First Aid at work certificate and IOSH or equivalent H&S management training.
