General Store Manager

About the role

The General Store Manager will be accountable for the day‑to‑day operational performance of a multi‑million‑pound food retail store in Weymouth. You will lead a team to deliver profitable growth, minimise controllable costs and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations and ensure the business meets its financial targets.
• Develop and mentor the Deputy Manager and shop‑floor team through effective delegation, training and development.
• Drive excellent customer service, gather feedback and continuously improve the shopping experience.
• Control costs, maximise cash profit and promote the brand consistently.
• Lead a culture of continuous improvement by learning from mistakes and acting on feedback.

Required profile

• Current senior managerial experience – Store Manager, General Manager, Area Manager or large‑format Deputy Manager in a fast‑paced, volume‑driven environment, preferably food retail.
• Proven track record of profitable sales growth and achievement of company objectives.
• Hands‑on operational style combined with strategic thinking for short, medium and long‑term planning.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver customer excellence at all times.
