Geotechnical Design Engineer

About the role

Join a well‑established engineering consultancy specialising in rail‑sector geotechnical design. Based in a scenic village 10 miles from Birmingham, you will work in a flexible, collaborative environment where your expertise will directly influence project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site visits, scope ground investigations and develop design solutions for clients.
• Produce geotechnical designs for temporary and permanent works, including bearing capacity assessments, slope stability, drainage, soil nail and pile designs.
• Prepare clear, professional reports to communicate findings and recommendations.
• Manage projects to ensure designs meet client expectations and industry standards.
• Review and check junior engineers' designs for quality and accuracy.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience designing to Eurocodes.
• Proficiency with drafting software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Strong report‑writing ability and attention to detail.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Project management and client‑presentation experience is highly desirable.
