Governance & Risk Manager

About the role

This position reports to the executive leadership team and works closely with Board members to embed a robust governance, risk and assurance framework across the organisation. You will be the primary advisor on corporate governance, compliance and assurance, ensuring that policies and processes support strategic decision‑making and a culture of accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead advisory services on governance, compliance and corporate assurance matters.
• Design, implement and continuously improve governance structures that enable effective leadership and decision‑making.
• Develop and oversee enterprise‑wide risk management processes, reporting and escalation mechanisms.
• Direct internal audit and assurance programmes, translating findings into actionable improvements.
• Maintain oversight of corporate policies, regulatory compliance and information‑governance requirements.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with senior stakeholders, Board members and committees.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in governance within a regulated sector.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and embed governance, assurance and risk frameworks at an organisational level.
• Track record of advising Boards, committees and senior executives.
• Experience managing internal audit activities and driving improvements from assurance findings.
• Knowledge of data protection legislation and broader compliance obligations.
• Influential leadership style with strong judgement and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
