Graduate Assistant Cost Manager – Hybrid (Sheffield/Leeds)

About the role

RLB is looking for a motivated Graduate Assistant Cost Manager to join its Future Professionals programme. You will rotate through a variety of cost‑management projects, gaining hands‑on experience while working towards RICS chartership. The role is based in Sheffield/Leeds with a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and cost plans for diverse projects.
• Assist with feasibility studies, benchmarking and the preparation of tender and contract documents.
• Conduct cost analysis, value‑engineering exercises and monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle.
• Support the assessment and valuation of variations, change control and the preparation of final accounts.
• Engage with clients, contractors and design teams under senior guidance, maintaining accurate project records.
• Participate in internal and external project meetings and contribute to research and best‑practice development.

Required profile

• RICS‑accredited degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (essential).
• Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to manage workload, priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Eagerness to learn within a consultancy environment and a proactive problem‑solving attitude.
• Team player confident to contribute ideas; no prior technical experience required as full training is provided.
