Graduate Cover Teacher/Supervisor

About the role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Graduate Cover Teacher/Supervisor to support secondary schools in Newcastle upon Tyne from September 2026. This full‑time (or flexible part‑time) temporary position offers recent graduates the chance to gain valuable classroom experience before entering teacher training.

Key responsibilities

• Support classroom activities and assist in delivering lessons to students of various age groups and abilities.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group tuition to pupils who need additional help, both during and outside class time.
• Assist in preparing teaching materials and resources.
• Monitor and assess student progress, giving feedback to teachers and parents.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment and support homework and assignments.
• Carry out administrative duties related to student progress tracking and classroom organisation.

Required profile

• Hold or predict a degree with at least a 2:2 classification.
• Strong understanding of curriculum concepts and content.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, enthusiasm and the ability to motivate students.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for education and helping students succeed.

• Full‑time (Monday‑Friday) or part‑time flexible schedule.
• Daily rate of £95‑£110 (inclusive of statutory holiday pay).
• Term‑time only contract starting September 2026.
