Graduate Draftsperson – Structural Steel

About the role

We are seeking a Graduate Draftsperson to join a growing engineering business that designs, fabricates and installs structural steelwork for infrastructure and industrial projects. Working within an experienced design team, you will produce high-quality fabrication and installation drawings while collaborating with engineering, production, procurement and project management colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed fabrication, manufacturing and installation drawings for structural steel projects.
• Create accurate 3D models using Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software.
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for fabrication and installation.
• Work closely with engineers to develop technical solutions and resolve design queries.
• Liaise with production, procurement, sales and project management teams throughout project delivery.
• Update drawings and engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting programme deadlines.
• Ensure drawings comply with company standards and customer requirements.

Required profile

• Experience using a 3D CAD package such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or similar.
• Experience producing engineering or fabrication drawings.
• Previous experience detailing or designing structural steelwork.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage workload across multiple projects.
• Team player with excellent attention to detail.
