Graduate Mental Health & Behaviour Support Assistant

About the role
This full‑time, contractor position supports a specialist school for children aged 4‑16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will work directly with a small class of 5‑10 pupils, helping them achieve academic progress while providing emotional and behavioural guidance.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver trauma‑informed and restorative practices to manage challenging behaviours.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to implement personalised interventions.
- Identify individual triggers and needs, guiding students toward positive decision‑making.
- Monitor and encourage academic performance and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavioural incidents.
Required profile
- Recent university graduate (e.g., Psychology, Criminology, Social Work).
- Passionate about supporting children with mental health needs.
- Patient, encouraging, and able to work in a team‑oriented environment.
- Willingness to learn and apply trauma‑informed approaches.
