Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Reading Primary School

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a caring primary school in Reading. The role is full‑time and long‑term, ideal for a recent graduate who wants hands‑on experience supporting pupils with special educational needs. You will work alongside experienced teachers and SEN professionals to help children thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
• Promote pupils’ communication, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
• Support the implementation of personalised learning strategies.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents and external professionals.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour throughout the school day.

Required profile

• A degree in Psychology, Education, Sociology or a related discipline.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, proactive and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Ambition to pursue a career in education, educational psychology, speech and language therapy or a related field.
