Graduate Teaching Assistant – Science

About the role
We are partnering with inclusive primary schools in South Manchester to welcome a recent science graduate as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This full‑time, temporary position starts in September 2026 and offers hands‑on experience supporting classroom teaching and student learning.
Key responsibilities
- Assist experienced science teachers during lessons and laboratory activities.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to improve student engagement and understanding.
- Prepare and organise materials, equipment and resources for experiments.
- Help maintain classroom discipline and contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Encourage curiosity and a love of science among pupils.
Required profile
- Recent graduate with a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or a related science discipline.
- Enthusiastic, reliable and eager to develop teaching skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, volunteering) is a plus but not essential.
Required skills
- Subject knowledge in a science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
