Graduate Thermal Engineer – Graduate Programme

About the role

Join Airbus Defence and Space as a Graduate Thermal Engineer and embark on a two‑year personalised development journey. You will work on cutting‑edge thermal control systems for space missions while building technical and leadership skills.

Key responsibilities

• Design and verify thermal control systems for missions such as Earth Observation, Science, Exploration and Telecommunications.
• Undertake complex space‑environment work packages including plume impingement, micrometeorite analysis, outgassing and planetary surface simulations.
• Build expertise with industry‑standard thermal engineering tools while gaining hands‑on experience with flight hardware.
• Develop leadership and project‑management skills by owning work packages, presenting findings and collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Gain end‑to‑end spacecraft engineering lifecycle experience from mission analysis through verification and in‑flight performance analysis.
• Complete at least one rotational placement within Airbus Defence and Space (e.g., Propulsion, Systems Engineering, Attitude and Orbit Control).

Required profile

• A degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• Recent graduate or limited professional experience in a relevant field.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Motivation to work collaboratively and drive future innovation.
• Self‑awareness and a desire to take ownership of personal development.
