Graduate/Junior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Elwood is seeking a Graduate or Junior Software Engineer to join its Backend Engineering team. The role rotates across internal teams, giving exposure to backend services and market connectivity while working on digital asset trading solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance software components across the Elwood technology stack.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to build new features and maintain existing ones.
• Deliver code on a fast‑moving release cycle, meeting deadlines.
• Apply new technologies and continuous‑improvement practices.
• Work closely with Quants, Product, Algo Developers, Infrastructure and Support teams to deliver trading solutions.
• Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, automated testing and maintenance.

Required profile

• Degree in a STEM discipline.
• 6‑18 months of software engineering experience, preferably within financial markets.
• Understanding of portfolio, execution or order‑management systems is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Passion for FinTech and interest in crypto/digital assets.

Required skills

• Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C#, C++, Java, Python, Golang, Rust.
• Solid grasp of computer‑science fundamentals, algorithms and data structures.
