Grounds Maintenance Operative (Gardener)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to provide high‑quality gardening and site upkeep across estates and communal areas in Birmingham. The role is temporary, covering sickness absence, and involves a mix of grass cutting, hedge trimming and general site tidying.

Key responsibilities

• Operate modern grass‑cutting equipment to maintain lawns and open spaces.
• Trim, prune and plant hedges, bushes and shrubs seasonally.
• Control weeds, perform strimming and edging for a neat appearance.
• Safely remove and dispose of green waste.
• Pick litter and keep sites tidy.
• Perform light maintenance of paved and slabbed areas, including sweeping and weed treatment.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence – essential for driving a company vehicle.
• Ability to operate manual vehicles safely.
• Basic DBS check will be carried out.

Required skills

• Grass‑cutting equipment operation.
• Hedge trimming and pruning.
• Weed control and strimming.
• Green waste disposal.
• Pavement sweeping and weed treatment.
