Grounds Maintenance Operative

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team in Salford. You will be responsible for maintaining green spaces, playgrounds and landscaped areas to ensure they are safe, tidy and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Cut and edge grass using strimmers, pedestrian mowers and ride‑on mowers.
• Trim, prune and remove hedges, shrubs, low trees and bushes with hedge trimmers, loppers, pole‑saws or chainsaws.
• Apply herbicides and pesticides in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
• Clear litter, leaf litter, twigs and other debris from paths, drives and garden beds using blowers, rakes or manual sweeping.
• Seed, turf and plant new grass, shrubs and flower beds, including wild‑flower areas.
• Inspect, clean and carry out minor repairs on playground equipment and play areas.
• Record completed work and report any outstanding issues using manual or digital systems.

Required profile

• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently.
• Good communication skills for interacting with residents and internal teams.
• Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and operate equipment safely.
