Group Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Group Accountant to join our Group Finance team in Worsley. The role will manage the month‑end close process, ensure compliance with FRS 102, and provide analysis of the group’s financial performance to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure month‑end close tasks are completed within the agreed reporting deadline.
• Maintain accounting entries in line with the latest FRS 102 standards and implement new processes where gaps are identified.
• Act as the primary contact for audit requests and queries.
• Produce variance analysis between weekly reporting outputs and monthly management accounts, collaborating with the commercial finance team to reduce identified variances.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities in reported results.
• Prepare and own the Finance Risk Register, working with other finance departments to identify risks and mitigating controls.
• Own month‑end balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely completion and review.
• Support ad‑hoc projects as designated.
• Proactively identify improvements through root‑cause analysis, recommend and implement new ways of working with stakeholder support.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Background in audit or experience in a large business with robust controls and strict reporting deadlines.
• Experience managing or coaching team members (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards and global accounting practices.
• Problem‑solving and analytical mindset with a continuous‑improvement mentality.
