Group Chief Financial Officer

About the role

The Group Chief Financial Officer will join the Board of Barts Health, one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK, to shape financial strategy and ensure resources deliver maximum impact for patients and communities across north east London.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of a long‑term financial strategy that supports high‑quality, compassionate care, innovation and research.
• Oversee estates, facilities and procurement, managing a substantial capital investment programme and major commercial partnerships.
• Ensure value for money across the organisation’s extensive estate portfolio and drive sustainability and transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with the Chair, Group CEO and senior leaders to align financial planning with clinical and operational priorities.
• Represent the trust at regional and national forums, influencing NHS resource management and policy.

Required profile

• Proven senior finance leadership experience in a complex, multi‑site organisation, preferably within the NHS or large public sector.
• Strong credibility to work in a matrix environment and drive change at scale.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion and improving health outcomes for diverse populations.
• Ability to communicate strategic financial insight to both board members and frontline staff.
