Group Data & AI Governance Lead

About the role

Connells Group is looking for a senior professional to lead the design and scaling of enterprise‑wide data and AI governance. This strategic position sits at the core of the company’s data transformation agenda, ensuring that governance becomes an operational capability rather than a compliance checkbox.

Key responsibilities

• Define and mature enterprise Data & AI Governance frameworks, policies and standards.
• Establish Data Domains, Sub‑Domains, Critical Data Assets and Critical Data Elements aligned to business capabilities.
• Activate business ownership through Data Owners, Data Stewards and Data Custodians.
• Build and lead governance forums, stewardship communities and decision‑making structures.
• Embed governance controls within Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview, covering cataloguing, lineage, classification and metadata management.
• Drive data quality management, issue remediation and continuous improvement.
• Lead Responsible AI governance, including model oversight, transparency, explainability and monitoring.
• Define governance KPIs and measure adoption, maturity and control effectiveness.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Data Governance and broader Data Management.
• Proven track record of implementing enterprise data governance frameworks and operating models.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with hands‑on delivery capability.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams including technology, security, risk and data protection.
