Group Finance Director

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Group Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership for a privately‑owned group operating across industrial construction and automotive sectors. Reporting directly to the owner, you will shape strategy, drive performance and ensure robust financial governance across multiple businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the owner on business strategy, growth plans and major commercial decisions.
• Lead all Group finance functions including reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Manage cash flow, treasury and working capital across multiple entities.
• Oversee inter‑company funding arrangements and capital allocation.
• Provide commercial insight on projects, investments and overall business performance.
• Ensure strong financial controls, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors and external advisers.
• Support international operations, including VAT and taxation considerations.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant senior finance leadership experience, preferably within construction, engineering, manufacturing or other project‑based, owner‑managed businesses.
• Proven expertise in cash flow, treasury and working‑capital management.
• Experience operating within a multi‑entity group structure.
• Excellent commercial judgement and strategic thinking.
• Confidence to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of European VAT and international taxation is advantageous.
• Ability to commute daily to the North Yorkshire office.
