Group Practice Manager (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Group Practice Manager to provide maternity cover for a multi‑site veterinary group for 9‑12 months. The role supports operational excellence, team engagement and high‑quality client care across several practices.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Branch Leadership to drive productivity and performance.
• Plan workforce, coordinate rotas and allocate resources.
• Manage absence, holiday planning and maintain workforce records.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of new staff.
• Conduct appraisals, 1:1 meetings, mentoring and performance support.
• Identify training needs and help develop staff development plans.
• Promote staff wellbeing and foster a positive team culture.
• Ensure clear communication with the Central Support Office.
• Act as super‑user for the Practice Management System, maintaining accurate data and reporting.
• Support compliance with RCVS standards and internal policies.
• Oversee internal and external communications, marketing support and brand consistency.
• Identify operational challenges and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a practice manager or leader in a veterinary or clinical setting.
• Strong people skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop teams.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable managing multiple sites and competing priorities.
• Calm, professional and solution‑focused in a busy environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital systems and data management.
• Super‑user expertise in a Practice Management System.
