Group Strategy Vice President

About the role

Barclays is recruiting a Vice President for its Group Strategy team in London. The role develops and challenges Group and business unit strategies, sets the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and works directly with the Executive Leadership Team. It leads high-impact projects on growth strategy, portfolio optimisation, market entry and capital allocation, mentors junior talent and offers a career path as a leader shaping the bank's future direction.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Group Executives on complex business challenges, giving independent, fact-based recommendations
• Shape strategies that balance short-term priorities with long-term growth across business units
• Structure ambiguous problems, develop hypotheses and use financial modelling and market analysis
• Monitor industry trends, benchmark peers and synthesize external insights
• Build relationships with senior leaders and influence outcomes through clear communication
• Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Develop financial models to support strategic recommendations and transactions, and manage transaction structures and post-transaction integration
• Conduct market research, attend conferences and train to keep up with strategic advisory services

Required profile

• Proven experience in corporate strategy, management consulting or investment banking, with a track record of impact at scale
• Strong financial acumen and ability to build and interpret financial models
• Ability to influence and communicate with senior stakeholders
• Collaborative mindset and ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
