GRP Operative – Composite Laminator (5‑Month Contract)

About the role

This contract position is for an experienced GRP Operative to join a major construction project in Cambridge. You will work on a rotating 11‑day schedule, applying resin and glass‑fibre techniques to GRP ducting and pipework.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare GRP ducting and pipework joints for laminating according to project specifications.
• Perform hand‑lay‑up and wet‑lay‑up resin and glass‑fibre applications on ducts, offtakes and pipework.
• Support installation of 600 mm and 400 mm main ducting and smaller offtakes down to 100 mm.
• Assist with pipework installation, ensuring joints are correctly prepared and finished.
• Follow site safety and quality standards throughout all tasks.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with resin, glass‑fibre, laminating, GRP ducting or pipework.
• Previous roles such as GRP Laminator, Fibreglass Laminator, Composite Repair Technician, or similar.
• Willingness to work an 11‑day rotation (approximately 106 hours per fortnight) on a 5‑month fixed‑term contract.

• Resin handling and mixing.
• Glass‑fibre lay‑up (hand‑lay‑up / wet‑lay‑up).
• GRP ducting and pipework joint preparation.
• Mould and joint fabrication.
• Composite laminating techniques.

What we offer

• Basic rate of £23.45 per hour, with overtime rates of £32.83 (OT1) and £42.21 (OT2).
• Approximate 11‑day gross wage of £3,168.40 including bonus.
• Accommodation or travel allowance where applicable.
• Bonus payment (details discussed during interview).
• Full‑time, 5‑month contract with immediate start.
