Gully Truck Driver / Drainage Operative

About the role

We are seeking a Drainage Operative to join Kier Transportation’s team in Northamptonshire. The role involves maintaining safe and operational highway drainage systems while enjoying a competitive pension scheme, 24/7 virtual GP service and generous holiday entitlement.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and operate a gully truck to carry out scheduled and reactive drainage maintenance.
• Clean and maintain highway drainage assets such as gully pots, ACO channels, culverts and interceptors.
• Use high‑pressure jetting equipment to clear blockages and ensure free‑flowing drainage.
• Record completed works using handheld devices.
• Support emergency response operations during adverse weather or flooding events.

Required profile

• Experience operating high‑pressure jetting equipment or similar vehicles.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Effective communication with team members and the public, adhering to safety procedures.
• Hold a UK Driving Licence and a Class 2 HGV licence.
• Transferable skills are welcome even if not all criteria are met.
