Head Chef – Care Home (Weyhill)

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and qualified Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in a care‑home setting. You will create nutritious, flavourful menus for residents while enjoying a balanced work‑life schedule with 4‑5 days on site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the kitchen and front‑of‑house team.
• Design person‑centred menus using fresh, seasonal produce and tailored to residents’ dietary needs.
• Prepare baked goods, cakes, scones and breads from scratch.
• Assist the front‑of‑house team in setting up dining areas to high standards.
• Manage budgets, conduct regular audits, and maintain stock control.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, COSHH and IDDSI frameworks.
• Drive recruitment, retention and performance management within the kitchen.

Required profile

• Warm, personable approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing.
• City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent culinary qualification.
• Proven experience leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
• Knowledge of fresh, seasonal cooking and nutrition.
• Ability to create a welcoming environment and engage with residents.
• Understanding of HACCP, COSHH and modified diets (IDDSI).
