Head Housekeeper – Aldridge Care Home

About the role

As Head Housekeeper at Avery Healthcare's Aldridge Care Home, you will lead the housekeeping and laundry teams to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents. Your role combines hands‑on cleaning duties with supervisory responsibilities, supporting the broader hospitality service within the care home.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks in line with the housekeeping job description.
• Prepare and submit orders for cleaning supplies, maintaining stock levels and staying within budget.
• Monitor and uphold high cleanliness standards across the housekeeping and laundry areas.
• Supervise, train and demonstrate cleaning procedures to new staff.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety policies, including moving and handling, fire safety and COSHH regulations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in cleaning and laundry management within a public or care‑home setting.
• Strong commitment to delivering high‑quality housekeeping services to residents.
• Ability to lead, supervise and develop a team.
• Alignment with Avery’s values of caring, supportive, honest, respectful and accountable behaviour.

Required skills

• Health and safety knowledge, especially moving and handling techniques.
• Fire safety procedures.
• COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) assessments.
