Head of Art & Design – Lead Creative Faculty

About the role

Prospero Teaching is partnering with a well‑regarded secondary school in Bridgwater to recruit an inspiring Head of Art & Design. This temporary‑to‑permanent position offers a chance to lead a diverse creative faculty and shape the curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Art, Photography, Design & Technology, and Food Technology departments.
• Design and deliver a broad, engaging curriculum that fosters creativity and technical expertise.
• Maintain high standards of teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4.
• Motivate, support and develop teaching staff within the department.
• Manage behaviour, organise resources and drive curriculum development.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Strong subject knowledge in Art, Design & Technology, Photography or Food Technology.
• Proven success delivering high‑quality teaching at KS3 and KS4.
• Previous leadership experience or clear potential for leadership.
• Excellent organisational and behaviour‑management skills.
• Commitment to raising standards and belief that every student can succeed.
• Not suitable for newly qualified teachers (ECTs).
