Head of Banking & Finance Solicitor – Birmingham

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Banking & Finance Solicitor to lead our Birmingham practice. This senior position will head a successful team, work alongside nationally recognised specialists and drive the growth of one of our core commercial areas.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Birmingham Banking & Finance practice, overseeing a busy portfolio of secured and unsecured lending transactions.
• Advise banks, alternative lenders, financial institutions, corporate borrowers, developers and investors on acquisition finance, real estate finance, development finance, refinancing, asset‑based lending and corporate banking matters.
• Collaborate with corporate, real estate, restructuring and insolvency teams to deliver commercially focused advice on high‑value transactions.
• Build and nurture client relationships, generate new business and contribute to the firm’s national banking strategy.
• Mentor junior lawyers and support their professional development.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with extensive Banking & Finance experience gained at a leading regional, national or international law firm.
• Strong technical ability and commercial awareness, with an established network in the Midlands market.
• Proven experience leading teams, developing client relationships and winning new work.
• Suitable for a Partner or Legal Director looking to step into a leadership role.
