Head of Curriculum – Maths (1-year contract)

About the role

The Supply Register, in partnership with NCG, is recruiting a Head of Curriculum – Maths for Southwark College. This senior leader will shape the maths provision for both 16‑18 learners and adult students, ensuring high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing Maths department, overseeing GCSE and Functional Skills programmes for 16‑18 and adult learners.
• Drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment, using performance data to monitor progress and implement measurable enhancements.
• Plan and manage curriculum delivery, timetabling, staffing and resources, ensuring efficient operation and budget oversight.
• Foster a culture of high expectations, accountability and professional development among teachers and support staff.
• Build strong relationships with employers, schools, community organisations and external stakeholders to enhance curriculum relevance and student opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading a Maths department or curriculum at a further‑education college.
• Strategic mindset with ability to influence curriculum design and drive organisational goals.
• Strong leadership and performance‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
