Head of DevOps and Platform Automation

About the role

VIQU IT Recruitment is partnering with a leading financial services organisation in London to find a Head of DevOps and Platform Automation. This senior leadership position will steer the DevOps and tooling function that underpins strategic cloud and infrastructure transformation across a complex, enterprise‑scale environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the DevOps, CI/CD and automation strategy and roadmap.
• Lead and develop a distributed DevOps and tooling team across the UK and offshore locations.
• Oversee platform lifecycle management, ensuring availability, resilience, security and compliance.
• Standardise and optimise CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
• Manage BAU performance, incident escalation and service reliability for critical DevOps platforms.
• Deliver DevOps and tooling components within major transformation programmes and cloud initiatives.
• Act as a key stakeholder across IT, business and architecture teams.
• Manage third‑party vendors, SLA adherence and cost optimisation.
• Own budget, resource planning and FinOps activities.
• Ensure governance, security and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering or tooling/automation leadership.
• Proven track record leading enterprise‑scale DevOps or SRE teams in regulated or global environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms and multi‑tenant architectures.
• Experience managing distributed teams and third‑party suppliers.
• Demonstrated ability to drive automation, innovation and continuous improvement.
