Head of Employment Knowledge (PSL)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Employment solicitor or Professional Support Lawyer to lead our Employment Knowledge team at a national law firm in Birmingham. The role focuses on shaping the firm’s knowledge strategy, developing resources and driving innovation rather than direct fee‑earning work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Employment Professional Support Lawyer team.
• Define and implement the knowledge strategy for the Employment practice.
• Create and maintain precedents, guidance notes and other legal resources.
• Monitor legislative and case law developments and keep the practice up‑to‑date.
• Design and deliver training sessions for lawyers and clients.
• Support business development through thought‑leadership content.
• Champion legal technology, automation and innovation across the team.
• Collaborate with innovation and knowledge specialists to improve efficiency and client service.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 8 years post‑qualification experience in Employment Law.
• Proven experience in a Professional Support Lawyer or senior solicitor role.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Enthusiasm for legal innovation and technology.

Required skills

• Deep technical expertise in Employment Law.
• Experience producing legal precedents and guidance notes.
• Ability to deliver training and thought‑leadership content.
