Head of Engineering - A220 Wing Development

About the role

Step into a pivotal leadership role at Airbus in Belfast as the Head of Engineering for A220 Wing Development, guiding a diverse team managing a complex engineering portfolio, including industrial modifications, test support and digital transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver major and minor industrial and plant modifications to support development projects and address in‑service problems.
• Provide test support to ensure products meet performance, quality and reliability standards.
• Assess and deliver REACH project modifications for hazardous substance removal.
• Lead a mixed team of in‑house staff and external suppliers, fostering an inclusive culture.
• Manage project plans, resource allocation, financial budgets and monitor portfolio performance.
• Engage with stakeholders such as Chief Engineers and Programme managers, representing the A220 wing team.
• Lead engineering integration activities within the assigned perimeter.
• Support digital transformation initiatives in wing engineering.

Required profile

• Degree (BEng/BSc) in Engineering with at least 10 years experience, or HNC with at least 15 years experience.
• Proven leadership of large, multi‑skill engineering teams delivering on time, cost and quality.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid project management knowledge, able to handle multiple topics and tight deadlines.
• Influential leader capable of negotiation and decision‑making across complex stakeholder networks.
• Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and commitment to lifelong learning.
