Head of Estates – Building Services

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced Head of Estates to lead building services across a large estate in London. This senior position is responsible for ensuring all buildings are safe, compliant, sustainable and deliver an excellent user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maintenance, repair and refurbishment programmes, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and emergency repairs.
• Manage capital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Oversee the Estates Helpdesk and the Building Management System (BMS).
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, statutory requirements and building regulations.
• Manage contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers.
• Drive sustainability initiatives such as energy reduction, carbon‑footprint management, waste recycling and biodiversity programmes.
• Supervise ancillary services including landscaping, gardening and pest control.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and deliver a high‑quality customer experience.

Required profile

• Significant experience in estates, facilities or building services management.
• Proven track record of managing maintenance programmes and capital projects.
• Experience handling budgets, contracts and supplier relationships.
• Good knowledge of health and safety, statutory compliance and building regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
