Head of External Reporting

About the role

We are partnering with an international insurance business to recruit a Head of External Reporting who will lead the Group’s external reporting function, ensuring high‑quality statutory financial statements and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and delivery of statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee all external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, quality and timely delivery.
• Manage year‑end and interim reporting processes, coordinating with internal teams and external advisers.
• Lead relationship with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and governance expectations.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess impact on the business.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing external reporting team.
• Partner with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Risk and other senior stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement of reporting processes, controls and systems.
• Support strategic projects, acquisitions and finance transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• ACA/CA qualified, ideally with Big Four training.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in external reporting.
• Previous experience working for a London market insurer.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements, GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
