Head of Finance – E‑Commerce (Hybrid, £85‑90k)

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing e‑commerce retailer in East Sussex to find a Head of Finance. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial control and supporting the company’s next phase of expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen financial control environment, including processes, reconciliations and policies.
• Lead month‑end close and produce timely management reports.
• Own cash‑flow forecasting, working‑capital and inventory management.
• Support budgeting, re‑forecasting and provide insightful analysis.
• Oversee tax and statutory compliance (VAT, PAYE, corporation tax) with external advisors.
• Coordinate year‑end audit and statutory reporting.
• Develop and mentor a growing finance team.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation and system enhancements.
• Assist the business with international expansion and multi‑entity complexities.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven experience in scaling e‑commerce businesses.
• Strong technical accounting and financial control expertise.
• Hands‑on experience with cash‑flow, working‑capital and inventory management.
• Experience with multi‑entity or international operations.
• Collaborative, solution‑focused mindset.
• Resident in East or West Sussex and able to work on‑site three days per week.
