Head of Finance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead the finance function of Grounds Care Group, a leading landscaping and grounds‑care provider in the South East of England. Reporting directly to the CEO/Founder, you will act as a trusted adviser to the Board and senior leadership team, shaping financial strategy and supporting the company’s next stage of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the finance function, ensuring accurate, compliant and efficient financial operations.
• Develop and maintain robust financial controls, policies, procedures and statutory compliance.
• Oversee external relationships with auditors, banks, insurers and tax advisers.
• Manage working capital, treasury and cash‑flow processes.
• Drive the annual budgeting, forecasting and monthly management reporting cycles.
• Produce KPIs, dashboards and performance reports to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Analyse profitability, margins, project performance and operational efficiency.
• Deliver financial modelling and scenario planning for business decisions, M&A and potential shareholder exits.
• Provide commercial and financial insight to the Chairman, Managing Director and senior leadership team.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a finance function in a mid‑size or larger organisation.
• Strong commercial insight and strategic leadership capability.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial modelling.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior executives and boards.
• Knowledge of financial risk management, compliance and internal controls.
