Head of Finance

About the role

We are seeking an ACCA/ICAEW-qualified finance leader to steer the financial function of a fast-growing £15 m turnover global events business. Reporting to the Founder & CEO, you will combine hands-on accounting with strategic insight to support rapid expansion and upcoming audit requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, providing line-management and coaching.
• Prepare and present financial updates to senior stakeholders and external partners.
• Oversee month-end, year-end and UK VAT reconciliations, ensuring compliance with FRS standards.
• Manage payroll and coordinate external audit preparation as the business scales.
• Conduct internal audits of income, costs, VAT and bank reconciliations.
• Implement new financial systems, policies and software solutions.
• Represent the company at domestic and international defence, maritime and armed-forces events.

Required profile

• ACCA or ICAEW qualification (CIMA/ACA desirable).
• Proven experience leading a finance function in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage external and internal audit processes.
• Strong commercial mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Interest in the defence, maritime or armed-forces sectors is a plus.
