Head of Finance

About the role

The Head of Finance will join the Senior Leadership Team of a charitable organisation serving children and young people across Scotland. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the role provides strategic finance leadership while also overseeing IT and administration functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function and contribute to senior leadership decision‑making.
• Develop long‑term financial strategies, forecasts and plans to ensure sustainability.
• Produce high‑quality management information, budgets and forecasts for strategic decisions.
• Present financial information and recommendations to the Board of Trustees and senior stakeholders.
• Manage statutory reporting, audit and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee cash flow, investments, reserves and financial risk.
• Support fundraising through financial modelling, grant reporting and funding applications.
• Maintain and improve finance systems, controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide leadership for IT, systems and administration functions.
• Lead, develop and mentor a multidisciplinary support services team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in senior finance leadership, preferably within the charitable or non‑profit sector.
• Ability to work closely with a Board of Trustees and senior leadership.

What we offer

• Salary between £70,000 and £80,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• Hybrid working model with one day per week remote.
