Head of Finance – Retail (Cheshire)

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded finance leader who thrives in the fast‑moving retail sector. This high‑profile position sits on the senior leadership team, working closely with the Group CFO to shape business performance and strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual financial reporting, delivering insightful commentary and board packs.
• Ensure statutory accounts, returns and filings comply with UK GAAP and meet all deadlines.
• Manage relationships with auditors, HMRC, banking partners and investors.
• Provide commercial and strategic support to the wider business and the Group CFO.
• Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team.
• Drive finance improvement projects, strengthen controls and enhance processes.
• Deliver clear financial insight to enable confident, informed decision‑making.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Established senior finance leader with significant post‑qualified experience.
• Currently operating at Head of Finance or Finance Director level.
• Proven track record within the retail sector – essential.
• Technically strong, commercially astute and confident influencing senior stakeholders.
• Engaging leader who can develop a team while remaining hands‑on when required.
