Head of Financial Accounting (12-month FTC)

About the role

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity to lead the financial accounting function for a leading international business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for ensuring robust financial governance, regulatory compliance and high‑quality reporting across the UK operation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements.
• Manage external and internal audits, acting as the primary contact for auditors and senior stakeholders.
• Oversee statutory and management reporting, ensuring timely group reporting submissions.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations, internal controls and accounting risk management.
• Supervise VAT, corporation tax and other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Direct accounts payable, banking, receivables and collections activities.
• Ensure financial provisions are prepared in accordance with IFRS.
• Drive data quality, compliance and governance standards across the finance function.
• Develop, mentor and lead a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Minimum three years of financial management experience.
• Proven finance leadership experience in a regulated environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
