Head of Health and Safety

About the role

We are seeking a permanent Head of Health and Safety to lead our Redbridge site. Reporting to the Director of Sustainability and Corporate Governance, you will shape and deliver the organisation's health, safety and building strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve an ISO 45001‑certified OH&S management system.
• Ensure full compliance with ISO 45001 clauses, the Building Safety Act 2022 and BS 5975 (Temporary Works Procedures).
• Oversee internal and external audits, maintain documentation and compliance records.
• Provide strategic oversight for higher‑risk buildings and act as the Designated Individual for the Building Safety regulator.
• Establish and monitor competency registers for temporary works, approving and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
• Lead the Health and Safety team, conduct site welfare audits and monitor industry media for legislative changes.

Required profile

• Chartered Member of IOSH.
• Proven experience in social housing, covering both new‑build and refurbishment projects.

Required skills

• ISO 45001 implementation.
• BS 5975 temporary works procedures.
• Building Safety Act 2022 compliance.
