Head of Housekeeping – Care Home

About the role

As a Head of Housekeeping at a Barchester care home, you will create warm, homely surroundings essential for quality care and support. You will lead a team of housekeeping staff, taking a hands‑on approach and actively participating in day‑to‑day cleaning while upholding the highest standards throughout the home.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of housekeeping staff, setting an example of high standards.
• Participate directly in daily cleaning tasks to maintain rooms and living spaces to the highest quality.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ensure health and safety compliance in all housekeeping activities.
• Monitor and uphold consistent cleaning standards across all areas of the care home.

Required profile

• Experience in housekeeping within a care home, hospital or hotel environment.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team.
• Caring nature with good communication skills for interaction with staff, residents and relatives.
• Ability to work hands‑on alongside the housekeeping team.
