Head of HR

About the role

We are seeking a senior HR leader to head a team of generalist HR and Learning & Development professionals for a multi‑site operation on the outskirts of Winchester. The role will align HR strategy with business objectives and drive people‑focused initiatives that support growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations including employee relations, recruitment, L&D, performance management and HR administration.
• Partner with managers and senior leaders to provide HR advice and support.
• Manage the HR and L&D budget, including forecasting, reporting and cost control.
• Assist managers with recruitment processes, from job description creation to onboarding.
• Work with senior management to facilitate organisational change and continuous improvement.
• Travel to multiple business locations to maintain visibility and build effective relationships.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an HR team, preferably in a multi‑site environment.
• Experience in a retail or customer‑focused sector is advantageous.
• CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Strong commercial outlook combined with a people‑focused approach.
• Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Confidence in handling employee relations and providing practical advice.
• Experience managing recruitment processes and delivering high‑quality HR services.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
