Head of Human Resources – Full‑time

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on Head of Human Resources to lead our HR function in Guildford. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, balancing strategic people initiatives with day‑to‑day HR operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the HR team to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
• Partner with senior leaders on workforce planning, performance management and organisational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, safeguarding and safer recruitment practices.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits, learning and development, and HR data management.
• Manage departmental budgets and produce HR reports, metrics and insights.
• Lead HR projects and change initiatives, promoting an inclusive, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Graduate calibre with CIPD Chartered Membership.
• Proven senior HR management experience in a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience leading and developing HR teams and managing budgets.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and safer recruitment.
• Desirable: experience in education, payroll processes and HR information systems.

What we offer

• Competitive salary of £55,000 per annum.
• Full‑time contract (37.5 hours per week) with 52 weeks per year.
