Head of Human Resources – £55k per annum

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Head of Human Resources to lead our HR function and play a key role within the organisation. The role combines strategic people initiatives with day‑to‑day HR operations, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the HR team to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused HR service.
• Partner with senior leaders on organisational objectives, workforce planning and performance.
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements and safer recruitment practices.
• Oversee recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits, learning and development, and reward strategy.
• Manage departmental and staffing budgets effectively.
• Produce HR reports, metrics and insights for informed decision‑making.
• Lead HR projects and organisational change initiatives.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and high‑performing workplace culture.

Required profile

• Graduate calibre with CIPD Chartered Membership.
• Proven experience in a senior HR management role within a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience leading and developing HR teams.
• Experience managing budgets and resources.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and safer recruitment practices.
• Detail‑oriented with a strong analytical approach.
• Commercially aware.

• Salary: £55,000 per annum.
• Full‑time contract, 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
