Head of IT

About the role

The Head of IT will lead the United Kingdom technology function for a global sustainable‑transport organisation. Reporting to senior business leaders, you will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring that IT services and solutions align with corporate objectives while fostering a high‑performing, collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall accountability for the UK IT function, delivering reliable services and successful project outcomes.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to align IT priorities with organisational goals.
• Manage business applications, embed structured service‑management practices and agile delivery approaches.
• Drive the evolution of the IT landscape, supporting regional standardisation and centralisation initiatives.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting and cost control for IT operations and projects.
• Manage third‑party suppliers, ensuring they meet performance expectations and deliver measurable value.
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement across systems, processes and service delivery.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT leadership or consulting roles.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing vendor relationships.
• Proven ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience working with multi‑site European IT teams is a plus.
