Head of Maintenance

About the role

The Head of Maintenance leads all maintenance and engineering operations for a prominent London‑based property and construction firm. This senior leadership role ensures a safe, compliant and efficient estate while driving continuous service improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and engineering activities across the portfolio.
• Manage outsourced Hard FM and maintenance contractors.
• Ensure statutory compliance for all buildings and engineering systems.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Control maintenance budgets, contracts, KPIs and SLAs.
• Monitor asset performance, conduct condition surveys and develop lifecycle maintenance plans.
• Lead health & safety, risk management and contractor control processes.
• Support capital projects and ensure smooth handover into operation.
• Drive service improvements, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading maintenance, estates or engineering functions.
• Strong knowledge of building services, compliance and health & safety.
• Technical understanding of Hard FM.
• Ability to manage outsourced contractors and maintenance budgets.
• Effective stakeholder management across diverse environments.
• People‑leadership skills to drive performance and continuous improvement.
