Head of Management Accounting

About the role

The Head of Management Accounting will lead a small team responsible for the month‑end close in a fast‑growing company based in north Oxfordshire. This permanent position offers the chance to shape financial performance and support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the month‑end close and ensure ledgers are closed on schedule.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts with high accuracy.
• Ensure recurring journals are booked correctly and balance‑sheet reconciliations are completed before year‑end.
• Champion best practice in business partnering and policy adherence.
• Provide commercial challenge alongside the FP&A team to maximise revenue and control costs.
• Liaise with IT to maintain accounting system configuration and oversee system‑update testing.
• Lead, mentor and review the management accounting team, managing workload and staffing levels.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
• Proven expertise in management accounting and month‑end close processes.
• Experience leading a finance team in a growth environment.
